The Mary Lou has been designed to be reflective and compatible with some of the most notable historic homes in Granbury's Historic District. This modified Plantation style home is similar to the original design of the DL Nutt House also know as Mary Lous house at the corner of Bridge St and Stockton at the entrance to Old Mill Crossing. The front porches are a throw back to the early design of the Nutt House. These porches were removed by Mary Lou in the 1970's to expose the homes original intended and hidden design as more of a Greek revival style home.
